On 30 June the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine registered the all-Ukrainian Association of human rights protecting organizations “Ukrainian Helsinki Union of human rights”, which had been founded by 15 human rights protecting organizations.

Violent disappearances in Byelorussia, the Russian Federation and Ukraine – the community can stop them

On 17-18 June the international public hearings “Violent disappearances in Byelorussia, Russian Federation and Ukraine” were conducted in the conference hall of the Supreme Rada in Kyiv. The participants of the hearings adopted the resolution containing the appeal to the power of Byelorussia, Russia and Ukraine, as well as to the CIS, on the improvement of mechanisms of human rights protection with the aim to prevent the violent disappearances and extrajudicial executions.

Draft of the Criminal-Procedural Code of Ukraine contradicts the standards of the Council of Europe

The public hearings “Human rights and fundamental freedoms in the draft of the Criminal-Procedural Code of Ukraine” were held on 12 May in Kyiv. The majority of the participants mentioned the considerable number of drawbacks of the draft, which drawbacks created the auspicious conditions for systematic, uncontrolled and arbitrary violations of rights and fundamental freedoms of common citizens.
