Statement addressed to the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine on the need to resolve issues with official residential registration of Ukrainians who had to leave Crimea
26.03.2014
Due to the Russian aggression against Ukraine and annexation of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea a large number of Ukrainian citizens were forced to leave their habitual residence in Crimea.
Today, these people face a lot of problems related to changing their habitual residence.
Among other things, they cannot change their place of official residential registration, which leads to the problems with access to health care and social benefits, implementation of the right to vote and other civil and social rights.
Moreover, legal entities and private entrepreneurs that are registered in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea now face problems with performing their business activities. Today, there is no any relevant procedure that would allow such persons to re-register in another region of Ukraine without returning to the Autonomous Republic of Crimea.
We urge the Ukrainian government to take immediate action to solve these problems.
