On September 16 in the central office, UHHRU held a second working meeting of authors working on the study on the applicability of transitional justice in Ukraine.

On May 25, the Union held an international roundtable “Prospects of Transitional Justice in Ukraine”, which brought together 50 scientists and government representatives, experts of international and non-governmental organizations. The roundtable was a part of the study on transitional justice in Ukraine supported by USAID’s Human Rights in Action programme.

The working meeting was devoted to finalizing the pilot study and its subsequent presentation to civil society.

During April-September, the authors reviewed the practices and principles of transitional justice and analyzed the current situation in Ukraine. Particular areas of study were criminal justice mechanisms and institutional reforms in the situation of armed conflict, compensation for damage in the broadest sense of the term – from financial payments to measures of psychological rehabilitation.

As a result, the team of contributors expects to release not only the printed edition of the text of the study, but also to hold the international roundtable with MPs and experts of international organizations. The goal of the roundtable will be to solve disputable issues concerning the development of the national model of transitional justice.
