Human Rights workers inform EU of main human rights issues in Ukraine

A meeting has taken place in Brussels between EU officials and members of Ukrainian human rights organizations which discussed the human rights situation in Ukraine.

Issues discussed included those pertaining to freedom of peaceful assembly; the right to a far trial; and freedom from torture.

The meeting was organized by the Subcommittee on Justice, Freedom and Security of the EU-Ukraine Cooperation Committee.

Based on the information presented by human rights organizations, the EU representatives will be preparing a number of questions and proposals for Ukrainian officials, with the implementation of these perhaps influencing the EU-Ukraine Association process.
