New UHHRU Head of the Board and Executive Director

On 25 January 2012 the Ukrainian Helsinki Human Rights Union, one of the largest civic associations in Ukraine, made up of 30 human rights organizations, held a general meeting to elect new management.
Volodymyr Yavorsky who has held the post of Executive Director since 2006 is leaving for family reasons. He will be much missed and has our very best wishes for the future.
Arkady Bushchenko who has been the Head of the Board since 2008 will be taking over the post of Executive Director from February 2012.
Yevhen Zakharov, Co-Chair of the Kharkiv Human Rights Group takes over as Head of the UHHRU Board.

Arkady Bushchenko war born on 30 January 1966 in Kharkiv and is a bar lawyer by profession.
He has worked in the human rights field since 2003. He has long worked for the Kharkiv Human Rights Group both as a legal expert and running the Centre for Strategic Litigations.
The Centre has helped applicants win 60 cases at the European Court of Human Rights.
Arkady is also the author of 9 books and 15 publications on human rights subjects.
