On Friday, October 20, at 10:00 the Ukrainian Crisis Media Center will host a briefing “Occupied Crimea: Without the Right to Protest”.
Human rights defenders will present infographics about violations of the right to peaceful assembly in annexed Crimea. They will summarize the three-year methods of the occupation forces’ fighting against participants of the rallies using both administrative penalties and criminal proceedings. Defendants will name the number of people who have been victims of persecution for a peaceful rally, and the total amount of fines. Also, non-governmental organizations analyzed who are the main executors of the persecution of participants in protests from among the “judicial” corps of the annexed peninsula. In fact, this is the first attempt to analyze and generalize repression against the peaceful protest in Crimea since the time of occupation.
