The discussion was held as part of the ‘Ukraine Alive’ international dialogue among the Visegrad Group countries.
At the library of the University of Presov (Slovakia), members of ‘Zakarpattia Community’ and the Slovak-Ukrainian Center for Partnership held a discussion on the theme “The Revolution of Dignity and its Geopolitical Aspect”, devoted to the third anniversary of the biggest shifts in the consciousness of the Ukrainian nation. Symbolically, the event was co-organized by the Faculty of Philosophy, because it deals with the revolutionary process issues, primarily a worldview. Of course, the Revolution of Dignity is still pending, but we can already talk about the first results of Ukrainian and world changes. In addition, students of Ukrainian Studies and Eastern European Studies, just need to know and understand the phenomenon that is taking place.
Of course, this was not an academic debate, but rather a story-telling of people, who participated in these events. The speakers tried to convey not only the facts but also the point of view of the incompleteness of the revolution.
Unfortunately, Russian propaganda has proved quite successful on the territory of Europe. In order to break the negative stereotypes that are imposed on Ukraine, it is needed to communicate and convey Ukraine’s position. Actually, a meeting within the joint project is the first swallow at the beginning of the great debate about the role of the Revolution of Dignity in Ukraine and the world. Similar events will continue to be conducted in the Visegrad Group countries. We will definitely inform about them.
Reference: ‘Zakarpattia Community’ is a human rights organization. The public reception of the Ukrainian Helsinki Human Rights Union in Zakarpattia Oblast has been operating on its base since January 2016.
