On 27-28 and 29-30 April 2017, two full-time seminars within the course “Human Rights Standards in the Practice of Lawyers and Judges” were held.

In general, 51 lawyers and judges from all over Ukraine participated in the training course, implemented by Ukrainian Helsinki Human Rights Union. They attended both days of seminars.

The purpose of the workshops was to get acquainted with the participants of the training course “Human Rights Standards in the Practice of Lawyers and Judges”. Organizers also aimed to introduce the practical aspects of the application of knowledge gained during the online courses.

As noted by one of the participants of the seminar, ‘Even taking into account that I have already attended a similar workshop last year and the material covered, I have definitely obtained new knowledge. In addition, I started to look differently at some things after the workshop. The workshop was useful and completely exceeded expectations!’

As the results of the seminars, only 35 participants out of 51 will continue the participation in the course. Perhaps, this was the reason, why participants showed maximum activity during the sessions: they did not stop inflammatory professional discussions during the learning process, and then asked many additional questions.

The conducted full-time seminars are part of the course “Human Rights Standards in the Practice of Lawyers and Judges,” implemented by the Ukrainian Helsinki Human Rights Union. The overall objective of the course is to promote the observance and protection of human rights in Ukraine, to implementre international human rights standards into the national legal system by strengthening the professional capacity of practitioners of court lawyers.
