On June 13, the Ukraine-wide tour of the travelling educational exhibition “Everyone Has the Right to Know Their Rights” is completed in Dnipro.

The tour was organized by the Ukrainian Helsinki Human Rights Union, as part of the Ukraine-wide educational program “We Understand Human Rights“, supported by the US Agency for International Development USAID under the Human Rights in Action project.

The exhibition was held at the M.Svetlov Youth Library of Dnipropetrovsk Region. It has become a platform for discussions on human rights and current issues of concern to each visitor and the community as a whole.

The exhibition guides were students of the Interregional higher professional school of printing and information technologies, who were specially trained before the educational exhibition. Visitors were students of schools and universities in Dnipro and all visitors to the library.

A number of events was held during the exhibition. Some events were devoted to the International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia, and Biphobia.

On May 21, visitors could participate in activities devoted to the World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development. This day was chosen by the UN in 2002 to protect cultural diversity as a means of achieving prosperity, sustainable development, and global peaceful coexistence. Moreover, there were events devoted to the World Anti-Terrorism Day. This day aimed at drawing attention to the fight against all types of terrorism and violence. It started in India because thousands of young people are lured into terrorist camps and organizations each year (May 21).

On June 1, the travelling educational exhibition was the basis for activities devoted the International Children’s Day.

The travelling educational exhibition “Everyone Has the Right to Know Their Rights”, as well as the guideline to work with it, were developed in 2011 by the NGO “MART”, the UHHRU member organization, with support from the International Renaissance Foundation, using expert materials and within the framework the action plan of the Ukraine-wide educational program “We Understand Human Rights”, as one of the steps to respond to the need for a systematic approach to human rights education. It enables to use these products as supplementary materials for learning and encourage discussion of human rights issues.
