The soldiers who were captured and for whom the application was filed to the European Court of Human Rights were released. This has now become known to the Ukrainian Helsinki Human Rights Union (UHHRU).
Let us recall that the statement stated that the responsibility for the life and health of prisoners fell on Russia as a country that controls the terrorists.
In their statement the advocates asked the court to take urgent measures and oblige Russia to immediately release Ukrainian military men from captivity.
According to Mykhailo Tarakhkalo, the Director of Strategic Affairs of the Ukrainian Helsinki Human Rights Union: “Now we observe a certain trend – the terrorists release those military men, the claims for whom were submitted to the European Court. Maybe it’s just a coincidence, but it is possible that the terrorists obtain such an instruction from Russia after the latter receives a message from the European Court”.
The case is supported by the Strategic Litigations fund. of the UHHRU.
