On 30 January 2018 at 11:00, at the building of the Secretariat of the Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) (Kyiv, 21/8 Instytutska St.), a roundtable will take place where a methodology for the new human rights monitoring tool aimed at the local level will be presented, jointly implemented by the Ukrainian Helsinki Human Rights Union and Ombudsman’s office as well as other state and civil society institutions.

Monitoring activities performed as part of the Local Human Rights Index target the level of local territorial communities. They allow assessing how local authorities in settlements use their powers in the field of human rights protection. The Local Human Rights Index evaluates and identifies efficient and inefficient practices in settlements, provides recommendations regarding the implementation of the best methods, and trains local activists interested in developing human rights in their own cities.
