The Ukrainian Helsinki Human Rights Union together with representatives of the High Specialized Court for Civil and Criminal Cases conducted the research “Precedent UA – 2016”. Its subject was the practice of domestic courts on the application of judgments of the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR). As of August 2, 2016, it was found that a significant number of Ukrainian judges use judgments of ECHR in their practice. Moreover, those who apply case law of the European Court of Human Rights inappropriately or mistakenly were identified.
The ten best judges were also selected.
The solemn ceremony of announcement of the research results will be held with the support of the Embassy of Sweden in Ukraine as part of the institutional development project of the Ukrainian Helsinki Human Rights Union as well as Global Affairs Canada as part of the UHHRU Project “Human Rights Above All”.
