On October 23, 2018, at 10:00, roundtable Ukraine — strategic value of location. Conflict-related challenges, approaches to Donbas reintegration and international experience will take place at the Office of the Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights (Kyiv, 21/8 Instytutska St.)
Organizers: Ukrainian Helsinki Human Rights Union and USAID Human Rights in Action Program jointly with the Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights and with the support of the Embassy of the United Kingdom in Ukraine.
The goal of the roundtable is to lay the groundwork for legislative and public support for national peace building policy, new approaches to Donbas reintegration, dialogue institutionalization as a mechanism for conflict resolution under conditions of temporary occupation, in order to promote dialogue, economic growth and community development for victims of the conflict. It will also serve as a platform for expert discussion of society’s potential contributions to building peace and establishing a dialogue.
Ukrainian MPs, representatives of public authorities, civil society and international organizations are invited to take part in the event. The roundtable will be joined by experts from the international independent peace building organization Conciliation Resources (United Kingdom).

Session 2: Two-fold role of civil society as an object of the conflict and an agent of conflict resolution. Synergy vs. conflict in the interactions between government bodies and non-governmental initiatives.
