General Purposes Grants from the Charles Stewart Mott Foundation
30.01.2018
Since 2008 the Mott Foundation has been supporting UHHRU’s organizational development and strengthening the capacity of its legal aid centers, promoting a more favorable environment for human rights activism in Ukraine as a whole.
From 2018 onward our main goal has been to provide free legal aid to the public, as well as to tackle broader access to justice issues. The final beneficiaries of these efforts are individuals and groups whose rights and freedoms have been violated, particularly representatives of such vulnerable categories as persons deprived of their liberty, ethnic, religious and other minorities, women, minors, senior citizens, people with disabilities, etc. Other categories within the scope of our activities include torture survivors and those affected by the armed conflict in Ukraine in this or that way.
These grants enable UHHRU to pursue such activities as providing free legal aid and raising people’s legal awareness, monitoring human rights situation in Ukraine, performing analytical work, conducting strategic litigations, as well as improving organization’s overall quality of operation.
